GISE Hub ( Geospatial Information Science and Engineering Hub) at IIT Bombay, is an Interdisciplinary Project to enable Geospatial Technology Solutions at IIT Bombay. Sanction Order for GISE Hub was received by IIT Bombay to set up a GISE Hub on 09.03.2022.
GISE Hub is funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India. GISE Hub Is a multidisciplinary effort towards building capacity, research, and developing geospatial solutions, educational outreach, and innovation in the core development sectors.
To foster the application of geospatial sciences to work with specific sectors such as irrigation and public transport through engagement with regional and state agencies.
Provide mechanisms to foster multidisciplinary research and development of geospatial technologies.
Create capacity building and provide educational outreach under strategic partnerships.
Collation of data from national and state agencies to ensure a Data for Policy (D4P) platform and to develop and maintain indices of socio-economic importance.
Design, develop, and manage specialised schemes for innovation and support for entrepreneurship in geospatial technology and its application.
Develop and support FOSS in GIS and enable the community with affordable, accessible software and facilitate open-source community discussion for geospatial information.

GISE Hub and spoke model aims to work together with different groups to collectively elevate geospatial technology use in society.
Geospatial data plays a vital role in community development, enabling the provision of basic amenities by state agencies and serving as a platform for business and logistics interventions. Innovation and new approaches are crucial in all these areas.
