About Us

Geospatial Information Science and Engineering Hub is Funded by DST and it is an Interdisciplinary Project to enable Geospatial Technology Solutions at IIT Bombay. Sanction Order for GISE Hub was received by IIT Bombay to set up a GISE Hub on 09.03.2022.

Our Mission

• Research & Development: Advancing interdisciplinary research in geospatial sciences with a focus on real-world applications.

• Technology Deployment: Creating reproducible teaching content and innovative solutions for sectors such as irrigation, public transport, and urban planning, through collaborations with regional and state agencies.

• Data for Policy (D4P) Platform: Aggregating data from national and state agencies to develop socio-economic indices and support data-driven policymaking.

• Capacity Building & Education: Establishing strategic partnerships to provide training, workshops, and outreach programs.

• Innovation & Entrepreneurship: Designing schemes to promote startups and innovation in geospatial technology.

• Open-Source GIS: Supporting the development of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) in GIS, making geospatial tools more accessible, affordable, and community-driven. More
