Geospatial Information Science and Engineering Hub is an Interdisciplinary Project to enable Geospatial Technology Solutions at IIT Bombay. GISE Hub is funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India. It is a multi-disciplinary project undertaken for geospatial information technology in India at IIT Bombay. GISE Hub Is a multidisciplinary effort towards building capacity, research, and developing geospatial solutions, educational outreach, and innovation in the core development sectors. Aims to enhance interdisciplinary and collaborative research in geospatial information sciences and engineering, focusing on reproducible teaching content and engagement for transferring and deploying technologies and software. Objectives

  • To foster the application of geospatial sciences to work with specific sectors such as irrigation and public transport through engagement with regional and state agencies.
  • Provide mechanisms to foster multidisciplinary research and development of geospatial technologies.
  • Create capacity building and provide educational outreach under strategic partnerships.
  • Collation of data from national and state agencies to ensure a Data for Policy (D4P) platform and to develop and maintain indices of socio-economic importance.
  • Design, develop, and manage specialised schemes for innovation and support for entrepreneurship in geospatial technology and its application.
  • Develop and support FOSS in GIS and enable the community with affordable, accessible software and facilitate open-source community discussion for geospatial information.
